L Annual Conference of the Italian Association of Germanic Philology - CfP
The conference, which will be held at the University of Florence from February 7 to 9, 2024, aims to explore the many aspects of the manner and methods by which education and training in the broadest sense was cared for in Germanic realities. The chronological span is from the Gothic kingdoms to the last decades of the 16th century.
Proposals will be able to approach the topic in question from different perspectives and focus on the many educational methods at work in the Germanic Middle Ages, moving from the production of
a technical-scientific literature with a clear didactic-didactic intent to the flourishing of exempla, from glossary, grammatical and lexicological activity to edifying texts in prose or poetry, from monastic and religious education to the construction of ideal secular figures, who embodied (and at the same time defined) the values of the society of the time.
