LI Annual Conference of the Italian Association of Germanic Philology - CfP

The Conference, which will be held at the University of Ferrara from May 28-30, 2025, aims to promote discussion on issues related to the critical edition of medieval texts from the Germanic area, a central and ever-present theme within the scientific debate, which in recent years has produced new approaches and has also been confronted with the possibilities offered by the application to ecdotics of digital tools. Proposals will be able to address the proposed theme by dwelling on the different problems and peculiarities of text restitution that characterize the Germanic Middle Ages, focusing on aspects such as the different textual genres with their specificities, the different mode and type of transmission(codex unicus, pluritestimonial traditions, interpolated texts, contaminated traditions, etc.), the different linguistic-cultural areas of belonging. Finally, the conference also aims to be an opportunity to present possible projects of critical editions in fieri.

Those interested in participating in the conference as speakers are invited to send their proposals, accompanied by a title, a short abstract (max. 1,000 characters, including spaces) and an essential bibliography of reference (max. 10 titles), keeping in mind that each paper will last about 30 minutes (including discussion). Proposals should be sent by December 30, 2024, to: aifg_2025_ferrara@unife.it. The outcome of the selection will be announced by January 20, 2025.
