Call for Papers: LII° Annual Conference of AIFG (Padua, 27-29 May 2026)

The conference will have as main theme the evolution of the heroic figure in the Germanic world, from, its ethnographic and poetic origins up to the knightly literature, paying attention to the transformation and preservation of the heroic thematic as also to the differences beetweenthe Germanic linguistic and cultural traditions. Main topic of the conference will be: the Germanic heroes and heroism in its symbolic and literary dimensions, with a specific focus on the relationships beetween traditions as also on the persistence of a common imaginary.

Interested scholars are kindly invited to send an abstract of maximum 1000 characters (including spaces), and a short bibliography (max 10 titles) to omar.khalaf@unipd.it. no later than January 31st, 2026 (23:59 CET).
The acceptance of the proposals will be notified no later than February 28h, 2026.
Each speaker will be granted 30 minutes for their talk and for the following or discussion.
